What Every Exhibitor Needs to Know About Seattle's Two-Building Campus
Most People describe the Seattle Convention Center as one building. It isn’t, and getting this wrong can throw off your logistics plan before you’ve even started.
The center now operates as two connected buildings. The first building, called Arch, had about 205,000 square feet of exhibit space which is opened in 1988. Summit, which opened in January 2023 a block and a half away, adds 248,000 square feet of show space. The two buildings add up to more than one million square feet of space for events.
Your show could land in either building. The two are connected by a short walk rather than one continuous hall, so confirming which building your show organizer has assigned you matters early, not on move-in day.
Summit has already achieved LEED Platinum certification. It’s the first high-rise convention center in the US to do so, with 18 covered loading docks built for heavy-load, direct drive-in access.
The train is preferable to the road for travel to and from the airport for the Expo. During peak hour, this route along with I-5 can take anywhere from 25 minutes to an hour to reach. The Link light rail route from Westlake Station to Sea-Tac is unobstructed and devoid of traffic. It requires approximately 38 minutes.
